Prolene 4-0 is a sterile, non-absorbable, monofilament surgical suture composed of an isotactic crystalline stereoisomer of polypropylene. It is widely used for general soft tissue approximation and ligation, including cardiovascular, ophthalmic, and neurological procedures. Due to its monofilament structure, it resists bacterial involvement and offers excellent tensile strength with minimal tissue reaction. The suture is designed to be exceptionally smooth, allowing easy passage through tissue without causing trauma or dragging.
