Femogesal is an oral contraceptive pill used to prevent pregnancy. It is a combined hormonal contraceptive containing two active ingredients: Gestodene (a progestin) and Ethinylestradiol (an estrogen). When taken correctly, it prevents ovulation, thickens cervical mucus to block sperm, and alters the uterine lining to prevent implantation. The pack contains 21 active tablets, followed by a 7-day pill-free interval during which withdrawal bleeding typically occurs. It is also sometimes prescribed to help regulate menstrual cycles and manage painful or heavy periods.
