Augmentin ES is a prescription broad-spectrum antibiotic suspension formulated specifically for pediatric patients. It combines amoxicillin, a penicillin-class antibiotic, with clavulanate potassium, a beta-lactamase inhibitor. This combination effectively treats bacterial infections that are resistant to amoxicillin alone, such as middle ear infections, sinus infections, and respiratory tract infections. The ES (Extra Strength) formulation is designed to deliver a higher ratio of amoxicillin to overcome resistant strains of Streptococcus pneumoniae.
