Contraplan is an emergency contraceptive medication used to prevent pregnancy after unprotected intercourse or contraceptive failure. It contains Levonorgestrel, a synthetic progestogen that works primarily by preventing or delaying ovulation. It is most effective when taken as soon as possible after unprotected sex, ideally within 72 hours. Contraplan is intended for emergency use only and is not a substitute for regular, long-term contraceptive methods. It does not protect against sexually transmitted infections.
