Depakine 200mg contains sodium valproate, an anticonvulsant and mood-stabilizing medicine used to treat epilepsy (various seizure types) and, in some cases, bipolar disorder or migraine prevention. It works by increasing the availability of a calming brain chemical (GABA) and stabilizing electrical activity in the brain. Treatment is started and adjusted by a physician, with periodic blood tests sometimes recommended to monitor liver function and blood counts.
