Asmalair 10 mg tablets contain Montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist. It is primarily used for the chronic treatment of asthma and the prevention of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction. By blocking leukotrienes, which are chemicals the body releases when breathing in an allergen, it helps reduce inflammation and swelling in the airways, making it easier to breathe. It is also indicated for the relief of symptoms associated with seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis. This medication is intended for long-term management and is not suitable for the treatment of acute asthma attacks.
